SwiftConsent 0.2.0 — public development snapshot
Published: 30 October 2026
Website: https://swiftconsent.dev/
Licence: MIT, with included third-party notices.

This source snapshot is publicly distributed under the MIT License. The working
GitHub repository remains private. Statements in development documents that the
repository or source has not been publicly released describe their earlier
development context; this archive is a public source release. No repository
history, credentials, test-result artifacts or website files are included.

Status
Unsigned development packages. No browser-store release, signed Firefox add-on
or installable iPhone/iPad app is supplied. Chromium installation has been tested
in the development test suite. Actual Firefox installation, native Safari and
iPhone/iPad verification remain open. Coverage is limited to documented dialog
variants; automatic handling is not guaranteed on every site.

Before first use
The default mode is ACCEPT ALL. Open the extension's settings and choose
Necessary only or Custom if that is your preference. Changing a preference does
not undo decisions already stored by a website. Automation may be paused globally
or for an individual host. See README.md and docs/PRODUCT_SPEC.md in the source.

Chromium manual installation (desktop)
1. Download and extract swiftconsent-chromium-0.2.0.zip.
2. Open chrome://extensions (or the equivalent extension page in your browser).
3. Enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder
   that directly contains manifest.json.
4. Pin/open SwiftConsent and review the default consent mode before browsing.
Other Chromium browsers require their own installation and compatibility checks.

Firefox temporary development installation (desktop)
1. Download and extract swiftconsent-firefox-0.2.0.zip.
2. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox in Firefox 140 or newer.
3. Select Load Temporary Add-on and choose manifest.json in the extracted folder.
4. Review preferences. Temporary installation ends when Firefox is restarted.
This package is unsigned; it is not a permanent store installation. This manual
path is provided for development and has not yet been independently validated.

Build the source
Extract swiftconsent-source-0.2.0.zip and enter swiftconsent-0.2.0/.
Install Node.js 24 or newer, then run npm ci, npm run typecheck and npm run build.
For browser tests, install the required Playwright browsers and run npm test.
Build scripts regenerate dist/ and dist-firefox/; do not run them over local edits
you intend to preserve. See README.md and docs/ for details and limitations.
The repository's npm run package command expects a Git checkout. This source ZIP
does not include Git history; use the built dist/ folder for manual loading.

Integrity
SHA256SUMS.txt contains SHA-256 checksums for the three public ZIP archives.
The archives use sorted entries, fixed timestamps and fixed permissions. They
contain no signing material. The binary build files are unchanged from the
verified development build; development icons remain in those packages.
